ITANAGAR, Jun 13: The first meeting of the newly elected Panchayat Raj leaders of IXTH Leporiang Anchal samiti was held at the Anchal Bhawan, Leporiang yesterday. Hage Tarung, Circle Officer cum Member Secretary dwelt at length on importance of the first meeting while underscoring the need for coordinated effort to achieve the developmental targets.

ITANAGAR, Jun 13: The Ha Welfare Society has mourned the demise of Ha Tachu who passed away on June 11 last after prolonged illness at his residence at Chimpu.
Late Ha Tachu was the GB of Barbia village under Parsi Parlo circle in Kurung Kumey district. He is survived by his two wives, three sons and two daughters.
In its condolence message, it said he was a social worker, who worked untiringly for the upliftment of his village.

Who are minorities in Arunachal?

ITANAGAR Jun 13: The Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering in an official programme at Pasighat town on Wednesday claimed that 40% population of state belongs to Christians, Buddhists and Muslims. The Minister believes that on the basis of above data, Arunachal should seek various benefits extended by the Centre under minority affairs department. The Minister also urged all the deputy commissioners of state to create minority affair blocks in their respective districts.
The statement of union minister is creating confusion in the minds of several Arunachalee citizens. For the tribal dominated state like ours, definition of minority always bears different meaning. Usually persons or group hailing from smaller tribe are considered as minority in the state. However Indian constitution categorizes minority group on the basis of religious practise. Minorities in India include Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. If we go by constitutional notification, most of the religious minority population of state, which minister is talking about, hail from ethnic tribal group. Buddhists followers of Tawang, West Kameng, Mechukha, Tuting, Lohit and Changlang are all indigenous tribals. Similarly Christian believers hailing from various tribe’s of Arunachal are also indigenous citizen of state who all comes under Schedule tribe category. Under such circumstances, will our respected minister explain to the Arunachalee people who are minority group in the state?
Also constitutionally a person cannot enjoy benefits of Schedule Tribe and minority status at the same time. If our minister wants to bring in central fund using minority tag, it may open up the door for withdrawal of ST status accorded to all the tribal group of Arunachal. Are we ready for it? The politicians of state have sold everything including rivers, mountains for the sake of money. Is minority the new buzz word to extract money from central government?
If government of Arunachal Pradesh is trying to bring fund under minority affairs department for the migrant Muslim Bangladeshi workers, it will set dangerous trend. Once these workers start availing benefits under such scheme, they might start looking for more such assistance. This will seriously compromise rights of the indigenous tribal communities of state. For a state like Arunachal which is depended on central grant for development, everyone understands the need for availing various schemes provided by union government. However receiving fund by compromising with our ST status does not augur well for the tribal’s of Arunachal.
Avail optimum benefits under MsDP: Dabii
PASIGHAT, Jun 13: Minority concentrated Ramle Banggo Block of East Siang district
has already been notified under Multi sectoral Development Program (MsDP) by the
government of India and we should avail optimum benefits with full of dedication
and sincerity for better future of the block, stated the senior Congressman Tako
Dabii. He was addressing a Block Level Committee (BLC) meeting held at Nari conference
hall, which was organized by the CDPO Onyok Panyang under the chairmanship of Nari

Eagle Trophy Invitational Football Tournament from August 3
ITANAGAR, Jun 13: The once famous Eagle Trophy Football Tournament is being revived from August this year after a gap of 17 years.
While informing this, Arunachal Pradesh Football Players’ Association (APFPA) General Secretary Kipa Ajay informed that the fourth edition of the invitational football tournament is scheduled to begin at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharalgun on August three.
The inaugural edition of the tournament was held in 1994 and the winner was APPBn led by Arun Saikia (captain).
United Football Club won the second edition of the tournament under the captaincy of former union minister Omak Apang in 1995 and the third edition was won by Nyapin Sangram Sporting Club under the captaincy of Kipa Kaha, informed Ajay.
The tournament was scheduled to conduct in February/March this year, but it was postponed due to date clashes with Santosh Trophy, T Ao Football Tournament and NE Games.
The organizing committee APFPA has kept a whopping Rs. Two Lakh as prize money for the winner, Rs.One Lakh for the runners up team besides individual prizes of Rs.10,000 each for the best player and highest scorer, Ajay said.
Meanwhile, APFPA has urged the authority concerned of Arunachal Pradesh Football Association to solve the incidents that occurred during 11th Tadar Tang Memorial Football Tournament in Pasighat January this year before Eagle Trophy Tournament starts.

Travel is the outcome of insatiable curiosity of man for knowing and exploring his environment. Travel educates a person by broadening his or her outlook. So everybody yearns for a quick getaway at the first given chance. However, for many—this remains a distant dream put away by long list of things to do and deadlines to meet. Most of the time, specially the journalist live an entirely circumscribed existence being slave to a dead routine.
Thus, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh through the Department of Information and Public Relations and with collaboration of Arunachal Press Club (APC), Itanagar conducted a weeklong trip of 10 member media team to a land of dramatic contours to provide them an opportunity to transcend the mechanical and trivial existence of their daily life besides helping them gain firsthand knowledge on flagship programmes implemented by the Sikkim Government.
Sikkim is a land of dramatic contours and its capital is Gangtok with a throbbing life. There is an aura about Gangtok that grips every visitor and is a perfect place to unwind. Gangtok has a strong industrial presence with tourism being its heartbeat and it does not pull itself away when it comes to hospitality. Just as its unpredictable weather, there is always something different happening, which wasn’t quite expected.
Visit to this mystic land of Sikkim was truly wonderful. Our journey which commenced from May 26 finally ended on May 31 after spending 72 hours in Gangtok.
Long car journey is bit arduous and less pleasant yet it can be filled with many
surprises. For all of us too, Sikkim was one of the well known holiday destinations

Situated 56 Kms away from Gangtok, Nathula Pass is at an altitude of 14,700 ft. bordering between India and China in the Tibetan Plateau. It is one of the highest motorable roads and richly covered by many varieties of Alpine Flora & Fauna. Though the rain played killjoy on our visit to Nathula but it could not dampen the spirit of our team as each member had some reason to rejoice amidst Nathula’s grandeur. Nathula is well known for its scenic beauty and thriving border trade between Indians and Chinese nationals.
Day 3-
Our trip included in Rumtek Monastery, Banjhakari Falls Energy Park, World Class football Paljor Stadium and Sir Thutob Namgyal Memorial Hospital at Gangtok. Visit to Ranka Model Village was abandoned by the team due to unavoidable circumstances which prevail throughout our trip. Yet, the mixed sojourn has its own fairy tale to be retold later.

As the world marked the World Day against Child Labour on Wednesday, over a hundred

in Geneva highlighting how an estimated 10.5 million children worldwide -
Six and a half million of these child labourers are aged between five and 14 years-
According to the latest figures in a new ILO report, Ending Child labour in domestic work, they work in the homes of a third party or employer, carrying out tasks such as cleaning, ironing, cooking, gardening, collecting water, looking after other children and caring for the elderly.
Vulnerable to physical, psychological and sexual violence and abusive working conditions, they are often isolated from their families, hidden from the public eye and become highly dependent on their employers. Many might end up being commercially sexually exploited.
The report is particularly scathing on India, a country on the path of enterprise, commercial and industrial development unseen anywhere else in the democratic world.
Providing a picture of helplessness on the part of impoverished families, the study says that nearly a third of families had no idea where their children, mostly daughters, were working, and 27 per cent admitted they knew that they were being beaten and harassed.
Upload govt job advertisement in department website
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of concerned authorities to a matter because of which students are suffering. Today due to non availability of any kind of information online regarding Govt. job advertisement, the students staying outside the state are facing problem. The job advertisement in the online website of departments is not maintained. It’s the responsibility of the head of the department to maintain such information in their respective website. As we all know that newspaper is the only medium for getting any information on govt. job advertisement. Otherwise we have to go to the offices to gather information. How can a student studying outside the state of Arunachal Pradesh get time to go and collect information. If department publish such information in their website it would be very easy for the student communities studying outside the state or in some remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh to get the information positively. Almost all the Government Dept. of Arunachal Pradesh has launched their official website but it’s not updated. It must be updated every day with new information and new ideas. Lastly, I would like to request the concerned authorities to look into this matter and work out a solution at the earliest possible for the betterment and welfare of the Students of Arunachal Pradesh.

Our ADM cum Estate Officer Mr. Talo Potom has done a lot of complimentary works for beautification of our one and only Capital Complex. For his tremendous work State Govt, has already awarded him and I personally, thank our ADM and hope far better future for him.
Let me narrate you one incident, an incident which is always in my mind and still echoing in my ears. Few months ago when eviction was being carried out by team led by our dynamic and energetic ADM near Bank Tinali against shop likes Gumti, Saloon, vendors etc I was also witnessing the whole episode. I asked ADM regarding eviction process, he without hesitating told me that all the shops whether small or big buildings and without discrimination on the basis of caste, status and religion along ROW of the National Highway will be demolished for making way for construction of four lane highway. Naturally hearing his reply I was very much happy thinking that one day our capital will be like other metropolitan city. At the same time, I saw a women standing nearby tree and crying helplessly. I came near her and asked the reason for crying. She told me that she was the owner of unfortunate shop that was demolished. She had constructed the shop by taking loan from a friend on interest basis. How can I look after my family, how can I refund debt, this was only source of my family income she continued. After hearing her plight tears came out of my eyes. But at that moment I thought our ADM is doing it for the betterment of our Capital Complex.
But alas! Now I am realizing my assumption was wrong. Days have passed, month gone, there is no sign of eviction drive against big building whose owners are high profile people and still standing. Only poor men were targeted. As a concern citizen of state I am putting up few questions to our ADM. Why you carried out eviction drive against only poor men who constructed building by taking loan on 10% interest? Did you ever realize what happens to those persons who rent the shop to earn little bit of ROTI & KAPDA for his family? These people are suffering.
Now, I realize that medal awarded by govt, for your good deed has became meaningless. Our hope from you for better future has shattered!
